Full Band Rehearsal!

Hey guys!
I had such an awesome day today. We had the full band rehearsal and it was amazing. I know I say things are amazing a lot, but I'm not joking and I'm not over-dramatizing at all. The musicians are incredible and of the highest caliber. We worked 3 songs today, "When I Saw You," "Ironic," and a surprise song for our CD release party. I'm not going to say much about this song, but I will say that it is a good one and definitely something I can't wait to share with you. It's a love song and it's upbeat. That's all I can say. :-) But...seriously. I was so impressed by the band today. I taught them the new song and they got it down within 3 run-through's. Very impressed.
I hope to have a video of the rehearsal up on youtube sometime tonight.

Remember to buy your copy of "When I Saw You" on iTunes, this Monday January 31st, 2011!!!!

Love Always,
SirenSinging<3

PS:
These are the awesome peeps in my band:

JP Sander-- Bass
Sal Aguirre--Drums

SirenSinging.Com!!!!!!

Hello Readers!
While we are still hosted at Blogspot.com, this site has it's own domain...meaning, you can tell people to just go to SirenSinging.com and you will be directed to this site.

I know this may not be a big deal or a big switch, but having my own domain name has seriously been a dream of mine since I was like in 7th grade. The dork inside is showing. I know.
Don't judge me.

This whole SirenSinging thing is seriously making my dreams come true...all I need to do is land a record deal, graduate from college, and find a good man and like I'd be set for life. Just kidding...kind of.

Anyways, that's it. But, this IS the official SirenSinging website now. It always was, but now it has a brand-spanking, shiny .COM attached to it making it even cooler.

Alright.
It's 3AM. Time for bed...and I will update you as to our awesome pending gig, potential pending bonus track, potential release date, and other potential stuff I haven't really talked much about.

Have a good night!!!...er...morning.
Love always,
SirenSinging<3

Gig Update

Hey guys!
Several cool little gig tidbits for you.
On Thursday I will be playing on the Chuck Leonard Show, part of Central Valley Radio, at 4PM-6PM. It's an online radio station, so check it out! It'll be a lot of fun. It's my first "official" gig. AND! My dad will be playing, so that'll be pretty sweet.

I just got confirmation from Biola University that I will be playing sometime in February in the Eddy's concert for sure. There's been no date set at the moment, but I'm definitely in. I'll keep you updated there. Finally, I was asked to sing at this Sweetheart Dinner at People's Church on February 12th for some firefighters. I'm pretty excited. It's a private event only though. But, I'll see if I can take some videos. :-)
That's all for now, folks!....except that I have 2 new websites:

SirenSinging at Last.Fm
SirenSinging at RootMusic/Band Page

Ok, now that's all.
Peace!
Love always,
SirenSinging<3

Weekly Update!

Hello All!
It's SirenSinging here...as usual.
I don't have too much info to report. Tomorrow I'll be meeting with the guitarists for the first time. I'm really excited. And I'll be having a meeting with the drummer as well. This morning I met the bassist for the band and he was really cool. I feel blessed to have such great people to work with. Seriously. They all are so talented AND are in this for free. I am too at this point, cuz I'm not really expecting money being a newbie, you know?

Mad props to my dad for learning the songs "When I Saw You" and "Wish I Could" on the guitar in like freaking 2 days. I am very appreciative. He's going to back me while I sing/play for Central Valley Radio this week. I owe him mucho. For reals, though. I'm glad I get to play with him though. We used to play together all the time when I was in high school. We even won this talent show back in the day when I was like this sophomore. We won like...a trip to the tanning salon? Seriously. Who gives high schooler's trips to tanning salon's? I feel like that's so...I dno. Damaging? Whatever.

Hopefully this week I'll be getting the artwork for the CD and be digitally releasing the EP in the next week or two. I HOPE!!! I HOPE!!! I HOPE!!! In other news...not much. I have this whole week off which I've dedicated to working with the band and writing music...and reading...and sleeping. My upcoming semester will be pretty miserable. But, in the meantime I've got lots of new songs in the works..like, 4-7 new songs, not counting "The Manifesto." I will explain that one soon. I promise. I wrote one in the style of Motown/Amy Winehouse tonight that I'm SUPER excited about. I'm actually thinking about posting clips of stuff I write online for you all to hear so before gigs we can do like requests of non-EP songs. I do hope to put some of these on future recordings...should there be future recordings. I seriously hope there are future recordings. That would be amazing.
That's pretty much it. :-)
Hope you all are doing well & hello to the new fans at Reverb! SirenSinging gained like...13 new fans today. Pretty freakin' sweet!!! I'm going to post another post with a playlist of the week for you to enjoy!
Love you all lots!

Central Valley Talk!

More and more things keep happening!
It's so wild and so cool. :-)
This afternoon I got a message on Facebook asking to appear on Central Valley Talk Radio on the Chuck Leonard Show this week. I'm trying to figure out how that's going to work with the band...since I start meeting with them on Monday. But, we'll figure it out! I'm so excited. AND! This morning I got a message on ReverbNation from an agent on MyAfton.com asking to book us places.

Crazy!
Cool!
So excited!
I got to get ready for the day.
Peace!

The Manifesto

Hey kids!!!
Not too much to report EXCEPT new song lyrics. I was sitting over a drink with a good friend of mine, talking government, humanity, history, etc..and I was inspired to write this. It's kind of reflecting on all of the things we talked about and the things I was thinking and feeling at the time. There is a point to this song....but I think I'll let you have your opinion first before I say anything.
This song is called "The Manifesto."

"The Manifesto"

"The Manifesto"
What if I told you everything I was thinking?
Something about you keeps me from speaking.
From what I know, I can't take this much more.
What if I told you that we're really crazy?
What if I told you the future's really hazy?
All that I know, keeps making me want more.

Well they say that I'm free.
If that's true, let me be.
They set the stage for the show
But I won't go.
I can't go.

Then you continue to tell me what you're thinking
I start to read you and won't find what I'm seeking.
All that I know is, I'm ready to go.
All that I know is I won't go with the flow.
And for all that I know, the past is a shadow.

What's shining is the manifesto.
All the things we have felt--we have outgrown.
All the lies that we buy--we already know.
Yet I'm still here
Was it all just a game in the ending?
We'll get used and abused by the ending.
What the hell? I can't tell.
What's the ending?But I'm still here.
I'm waiting here.

So what if I told you everything but the truth? And I didn't tell you that everything fell through?
Cuz from what I know, they're running this show.
What if I told you everything you wanted?
What if I told you, these words can't be trusted?
All that I know, keeps making me want more.

Well he says that I'm free.
If that's true, let me be.
He'll set the stage for the show
Yet I'll still go
Cuz I can't let go.

And though I'm sweetly smiling, I am slowly dying.
And though I'm slowly dying, I cannot help but trying
All that I know is, I'll never get the go.
With all that I know, the feelings never show.
And for all I know, we're living in the afterglow.

What shining is the manifesto.
All the things that we felt-- we have outgrown.
All the lies that we buy--we already know.
Yet I'm still here
Was it all just a game in the ending?
We'll get used and abused by the ending.
What the hell- I can't tell.

What's the ending?
But I'm still here.
I'm waiting here.

Why yes, dear friends, I sought the light
I'm thinking that I'll be alright
Once I've gone out and fought this fight
And figure out what's wrong from right.
So keep on telling me these stories
One day get the allegory
And escape this purgatory.
But I cannot help but thinking,
While I sit here slowly sinking,
And as you continue drinking
That we're wrong.

Well if I say that I'm free,
I am free, free indeed.
Let me set the stage for their show:
For their crude manifesto.

KuppaJoe!

Hey guys!
Apparently today is my lucky day. Not even joking.
I got a message from the booking person at KuppaJoe's in Fresno, CA and they want SirenSinging to play there. We haven't got any dates nailed down, but all I've got to say is DANG!
I'm so encouraged and so excited. I feel like everything is really coming together. Everyone I've talked to about the project has been so responsive and willing to work with SirenSinging. Today alone has been a HUGE day for me. I'll list:

  1. Club Retro gives us dates
  2. KuppaJoe makes contact
  3. WE'VE GOT A GUITARIST! (who happens to know the bassist. Wayyy cool!)
  4. Several new Reverb & Facebook fans
  5. Continued upward momentum on Reverb
  6. Contacted by several artists giving support and wanting to work with me
  7. Artwork should be finished by the end of next week
  8. Got all of my distribution & pressing accounts together
  9. Finishing up building a web-presence & EPK's.
Granted, I've been like...staying up super late to do all of this stuff, but it's seriously worth it. And it's been so fun. I feel so blessed to be able to live my dream and live out my passions. It's so fulfilling. The best part is that this is only the beginning!!!

Here's where we are as far as the EP release goes:
I hope to have it released sometime in late February. I should have the completed project by mid-Feb, if all goes according to schedule. Once the artwork is done, I'm going to go crazy with promotion and be asking you (readers!) to help me with this! I'll give more details in the next couple days. I'm hoping to have *at least* one CD release party. We'll see what ends up happening.

Anywho!
That's pretty much the deal with everything.
I hope you are all well. As always, stay tuned!
Love always,

We're Mobile!

Ok. I seriously need to go to sleep.
But who knew there were so many amazing resources for starting musicians on the web! It's seriously so incredible. So, my newest discovery is Adva Mobile.  This FREE service provides bands with a free mobile website. I'm still figuring this all out, but apparently if you text: "getsirensinging"  To: 88704, you'll like be a part of my mobile website. You can sign up at the bottom of this page via a cool little widget. Check it out.
AMAZING!
I'm so stoked.
I love this web stuff. Seriously. I love the digital age we're living in.
LOVE IT!

I'll update you soon with more fun gadgets and websites.
Oh, by the way, check out my newly created & rather sparse webpages. Please keep in mind these are the newest additions to the SirenSinging web-presence and are not near completion. However, I sincerely promise they will be completed very soon! Enjoy!

Web Presence Mania!!!!!

Time for a quickie!
I'm beefing up the web presence....once again while I should be sleeping to be wide awake for my American Government class. But mom, this is so much more fun!!! ;-)
Anywho, I'm opening accounts via BandCamp, ArtistData, Ourstage, and SonicBids....future sites include LastFm & Jango.
**phew!!!**
I'll be posting the links in the next couple of days.
Until then, I must bid you my dear friend, adieu.

Meanwhile...

While waiting for the project to come together....particularly the artwork, I've been getting into the rhythm of writing songs on a regular basis again. I wrote another song yesterday called "Get The Drift." I kinda want to start posting snippets. Here's a snip of the lyrics. Forgive the cussing. Peace. I'll keep you updated!

"Screw your ideologies.
And your false dichotomies
I’m done hearing sob stories
Why you can’t come through.
I’m done waiting on the line
While you play & waste my time
It don’t take a light to shine
To know what to do.
Drum to someone else’s beat.
Don’t give a damn what you think.
I hope that you’re getting my drift.
Your brain is so small to me.
Your heart’s a catastrophe.
This isn’t some cute little tiff.
I trusted you. You lost it.
I leaned on you. You forgot it.
Gave into you, and you used it.

Before you give your heart away
And listen to all they say
Don’t expect him to stay
Don’t give your heart away.
Just stay away.
Just run far away
Before its too late."

New Song: "Blessings"

Hey guys!
I wrote this new song called "Blessings." I wrote it in response to the pain and suffering I see in the world and also in response to my emotional struggles.
Here are the lyrics:

"Blessings"
Bless you, bless you children, all you lonely ones.
Bless you, bless you children, all the ones they shunned
I know the pain, I know the shame
Bless you, bless you children who have fall'n from grace
Bless you, bless you children who don't know your place
I know it feels like no one cares. This burden is far too much to bear.

I know what it's like. I know what you'll find.
I see it in your eyes. It kills you every night.
That fear is a part of you; it's taking over you.
It's taking your heart. It's tearing you apart.

Bless you, bless you sisters who have been disgraced.
Bless you, bless you sisters who have been defaced.
I know your pain and I know your shame.
Bless you, bless you brothers for your sacrifice
Bless you, bless you brothers who have paid the price.
I know it feels like no one care. This burden is far too much to bear.

O, let it show.
Let the the tears flow.
It's healing you need
It will set you free.
O, let it go.
Let's the tears roll.
It's healing you need
To be set free.

I know what it's like. I know what you'll find.
I see it in your eyes; it kills you every night.
That fear is a part of you; it's taking over you.
It's taking your heart. It's tearing you apart.

Hope you are all having a great day!

EP

Hey dudes!
Long time no talk!
Unfortunately, I haven't got too many bites on the gig front...but it's only been like 3 days. However, I definitely know that people have been checking out all the sites SirenSinging has because according to my stats on ReverbNation (best site ever!!!!), I'm moving up in rank on the local Fresno charts to a whopping #11!!! Now, I feel like that's something to be proud of. *Takes a bow* BUT! This is only possible because of you all and your support, so I thank you all dearly from the bottom of my heart!
Not too much to report tonight Except! I will probably get a final cut of the EP tonight in about an hour! Way cool, I know. I'm pretty stoked. I can't wait to share it with you all. I also talked to my artist about the artwork for the CD and it's coming along. I'll have some preliminary sketches tomorrow sometime. Unfortunately, I'm not going to show you all those until the week of release....but maybe I'll show you the drafts we didn't use.
The next step in the band promotion process, at least for me, is getting my music pressed...meaning getting the music on a prettily designed CD and getting a CD case with a cool CD booklet with credits/thank you's and all that good stuff. Then, I'm thinking about sending it out to some smaller labels, maybe some bigger ones. We'll see.

That's pretty much it.
On another like musical side note that has nothing to do with SirenSinigng, I'm totally digging Avril Lavigne's new single "What the Hell." Seriously. Like...it's on serious rotation right now. I feel bad because the new stupid Britney Spear's single will probably overshadow it. :-/ I have nothing against Brit-Brit, but Avril's always had a special place in my heart. I think I just seriously  like me some angry chick music (Lily & Kate). Also, I discovered 3 new bands that I'm in love with: Coeur de Pirate, Los Campesino's, and The Tallest Man on Earth.  I feel very multicultural because 2 of these have foreign names, but only 1 speaks in a different language. But, if you were looking for some new good sounds or just bored with your typical musical regime, I thought I'd provide some good stuff for you!

I'll talk to you later friends!
Love Always,
SirenSinging<3

The Search For Gigs!

Hello all!
Nothing terribly important to report. While I was supposed to be busy studying American Government, I began the eternal search for gigs. So, I applied at Club Retro & KuppaJoe in Fresno, CA. I'm hoping to get a response soon! I'm in the process of booking stuff at Fulton 55, Starline, Frank's Place, Audies Olympic and a couple of coffee shops & bookstores. It's much more simple to find gigs and venues in non-LA areas because...they tend to be smaller. LA is like a really big scary monster, but an abyss of possibilities, if you will. This isn't bad, but I start looking at LA and the scene here and am like so overwhelmed because it's so friggin' huge. I don't really no where to begin, but I've found some places. My dream venue: Hotel Cafe. Once I play there, I know I've made it. Well....not quite. But, Hotel Cafe is one incredible mofo venue. Some of my most favorite artists have come out of there including Rachael Yamagata, Ingrid Michaelson, and my dear Erin McCarley. Playing there would be like walking in the footsteps of the greats before me. But, in reality, I know I've made it if I get a show at the Music Box. Now that would be tight. You know it means a lot when I use the word "tight" because I never use that word. Why would this mean I made it? Because friggin' Kate Nash played there. BOOYAH!

Anyway, I'm like working up a list of places/venues for each city & the surrounding areas. I feel like such a newbie. But, it's so freaking sweet cuz I definitely have a bassist & a drummer who are both willing to travel to LA and they can car pool, which is even better because LA is like a 4 hour drive for those dudes. I feel lucky to have them. But, I'm in desperate need of a guitarist who would play for free. Also, if you know of any other venues, please let me know or if you want SirenSinging to come to your area, leave a comment! Tomorrow I will be looking at possible places to have a release party. I want to do one at Biola (my school) for sure, but I'm also looking at doing one in Fresno. I'd be like...working 2 cities at once. I asked KuppaJoe's about their venue. It'd be sweet to be able to do something at a real venue, you know? I've got a good following up in Fresno just because it's where I'm from. Plus, I may be able to get A Current Affair & SeeYouSoon to play. Sweeetness!
Anyways, these are my deliberations of the evening. I seriously spent the last like...3+ hours researching, updating sites/band info, and emailing. I have class at 8:30AM. Why do I stay up so late? I ask, WHY?!?!?! Oh well. It's my  birthday (since it's past 12 now), meaning I can do what I want!...within reason. 23. I'm getting old.  Tehe!
Another fun fact, I now have web presence at PureVolume. Check out the site below!
Hope you all have glorious, sleep-filled nights and don't have to wake up to demonic screaming alarms early in the morning. Sleeping well is like...my dream.
*Sigh.*
I think it's time for me to go cuz I'm just rambling now.
Goodnight, friends.
Talk to you soon!
Always,
SirenSinging<3

Hey!!!

Hey all!
It's been like a week since my last update. Sorry for the lag.
There's not too much to report at the moment, except I got the final versions of the songs yesterday and I'm listening to the EP!!! I'm going to be tweaking anything else that needs to be tweaked and then we'll probably have a finished product in a week or so.
It's sounding amazing.
My producer, Jordan Feliz, added some programming and synth stuff that sounds fantastic.

In other news, I should have a rough draft of the album work within the week or week in a half. Things are kind of going slow right now and it's more of a waiting game at this point.
I'll keep you informed as to any new things that may pop up.

Stay tuned!
Love Always,
SirenSinging<3
